Why Webflow Needs Menu Links
When a PDF is uploaded to Webflow's assets panel, it's assigned a CDN URL. Replacing that file means deleting the old asset, uploading the new one, and manually finding every button and Navbar link across the project to update the URL before republishing. Menu Links bypasses this by providing a single URL that the client can manage independently.
Step 1: Client Setup on Menu Links
- Create an account on Menu Links.
- Upload the master menu PDF to generate a permanent link.
- Copy the generated permalink URL.
Step 2: Add Link to the Webflow Navbar
- Open the project in the Webflow Designer.
- Select the Navbar component, and choose a Nav Link element.
- Go to the Element Settings panel (gear icon) on the right.
- Under Link Settings, click the External URL (globe) icon.
- Paste the Menu Links URL into the field.
- Optional: Check "Open in new tab".
Step 3: Connect to a Button Element
This works exactly the same way for any button or text link on the site.
- Select your Button element on the Webflow canvas.
- Open the Element Settings panel.
- Select the External URL link type.
- Paste the Menu Links URL.
Zero-Code Handoff
Publish the Webflow site. You can now tell the restaurant staff that whenever they need to push out a new food menu, they simply drag and drop the new PDF into their Menu Links dashboard. The Webflow site will instantly pull the new file—no editor access or publishing required.
